Barbier II, 740. Hillerbrand No. 2465a. De Backer-Sommervogel II, 882, No. 2. Important source for the history of Anabaptism "depuis l'an 1521 jusques à présent", illustrated with plates mostly showing the tortures suffered by the Anabaptists. According to De Backer-Sommervogel the work is rather a translation of Lambertus Hortensius' work "Tumultuum Anabaptistarum liber unus" (Basel 1548), than an original work by the Jesuit François Catrou (1659-1678). - Slightly waterstained in places, but a good copy. |
